The short version
Your work is saved on your own device by default. It leaves your device only when you choose: if you send lesson notes to your school through My school, those notes are stored online for your school (section 5a); if you share something yourself (WhatsApp, a vetting link, a file), it goes where you send it; if you join the pilot, we receive the contact details you type into that form; and if you tap a ✨ AI button, the lesson or test details you selected are sent to write the draft (section 5). Marks and class records are never sent. The app asks, after you save your first lesson, whether you want to share usage counts without names; nothing is counted unless you choose Yes, and you can change your choice at any time. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
Who we are
TeacherBridge is run by Wilberforce K. Osei (the data controller). Contact for anything about your data: WhatsApp +233 20 288 3097, email hello@teacherbridge.app. A postal address is available on request.
1. Work stored on your device
Lessons, class records, research notes, teaching packs, drafts and settings are kept in your browser's local storage. We cannot see them. You can delete items in the app, clear your browser's site data, or download a backup file. Clearing site data removes your work, so keep backups.
2. Joining the pilot (optional)
If you fill in the “Join the pilot” form, we receive your name, phone or WhatsApp number, school, region, district, class taught, subjects, how you heard about us and, if you give it, your email. Required: name, phone or WhatsApp number, school, region and class taught — without these we cannot contact you or support your class. Optional: email, district, subjects and how you heard about us. We process these details because you agree to it (consent), and we record the date and time you agreed and which version of this policy you saw. We use them only to support pilot teachers and ask for feedback. We send you general news about TeacherBridge only if you tick the optional box, and you can stop it any time by replying STOP. You can withdraw your consent at any time; we will then delete your details. The form is processed and stored by our hosting provider, Netlify. We never sell or share your details.
3. Messages you send us
If you use “Ask a question or send feedback”, we receive your message and any name or WhatsApp number you choose to add. If you contact us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy policy also applies. We use these only to reply and to improve TeacherBridge.
Educator reviews: if you review content for us on the review page, we receive your name, role and town, your answers and comments. We use them to improve TeacherBridge and, only if you tick the box, to name you as a reviewer on the coverage page.
4. Usage counts without names (only if you choose Yes)
After you save your first lesson, TeacherBridge asks whether you want to share usage counts. Nothing is counted unless you choose Yes. If you do, the app records simple counts such as “the app was opened”, “a lesson was saved”, “a mark was saved”, “a game was started” or “a backup was downloaded”, together with the app version, whether you were offline and whether the app is installed. Each device is given a random number so we can count devices without knowing who you are. Because the same number is used each time, we can tell that one device used the app several times — so these counts are linked to a device (pseudonymous), not fully anonymous. Counts never include names, lesson text, marks, learner details or your location. They wait on your device and are sent in tiny batches when you are online, and are stored in our database at Supabase. Switch them off any time under Offline & teaching packs → Share usage counts.
5. AI enrich (optional)
If you tap “Enrich with AI” or “Write questions with AI”, TeacherBridge sends the lesson or test details you chose — class, subject, language, strand, indicators, duration, class size, resources, question counts and any support needs you typed — to our server at Supabase, which asks Anthropic's Claude AI to write the activities. Marks and learner records are never sent. Do not type pupils' names in the support-needs box, because it is sent too. A random device number and a scrambled (hashed) network address are used to limit daily use. AI features are experimental: they need internet, are limited per day, and their output must be checked.
Sending notes to your head teacher (vetting)
When you tap “Send for vetting”, the lesson notes you chose are packed into the link itself, after the “#”. That part of a web address is not sent to our website or stored by us; it goes only to the person you share the link with (for example through WhatsApp, which handles it under its own terms). The head teacher's reply link holds their decision, comments and the name they type, and goes back to you the same way. A head teacher's record of notes they vetted stays on their own device.
5a. School accounts — “My school” (optional)
If your school uses My school, lesson notes you choose to submit are stored on a server so your head teacher can approve or return them. For this part, your school is the data controller (it decides how submitted notes are used) and TeacherBridge stores them for the school as its data processor, under the School Data Processing Agreement the head teacher accepts.
- What is stored: the school's name and optional region and district; each member's display name, role, classes and subjects; a random account number (teachers and head teachers join with a link or code — no email needed); an email address only if a head teacher chooses to sign in with email; the lesson notes you submit, the times you submit, comments, approval decisions and an approval record (reference code).
- Who can see it: a teacher sees only their own submissions and the comments on them; the head teacher and approvers at that school see the school's submissions. Other schools cannot see anything. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
- No learner data: do not put pupils' names in submitted notes. Marks and class records are never submitted; they stay on your device.
- Where: Supabase servers in Frankfurt, Germany (European Union), in a project used only for TeacherBridge schools.
- How long: as long as the school chooses — by default 3 years (for inspection records), then deleted. A school can export or delete all its data.
- Approval check: anyone with a printed note's reference code can check on the verify page that it was approved, by whom and when. The check never shows the note itself.
6. Learner information
We recommend using learner codes (for example B4-001) instead of full names. If you record personal information about learners, it stays on your device, and you are responsible for handling it in line with your school's rules and Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) or the law that applies to you.
7. Backups and shared packs
Backup files are saved wherever you choose. Anyone who has a backup file can read its contents, so store and share it carefully. Exported teaching packs never include learner records.
8. Where your information is stored
TeacherBridge uses service providers outside Ghana. School accounts (My school) are stored by Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). The website is hosted by Netlify (global network, USA-based company); pilot sign-ups and messages are stored by Netlify; usage counts are stored by Supabase on servers in Frankfurt, Germany (European Union); AI requests are processed by Anthropic (USA). Germany (EU) is on the Data Protection Commission's list of places with adequate protection. The USA is not, so for Netlify and Anthropic we rely on their data-processing agreements, which include standard contractual clauses and security commitments. These providers process data only on our instructions. Marks and learner records are never sent to any of them; lesson notes reach them only when you send them to your school (Supabase) or use ✨ AI (Anthropic).
8a. Security and data breaches
Information we receive travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is kept in access-controlled accounts with the providers above. The app sends only the items described on this page. If a security incident ever affects information you gave us, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as soon as reasonably practicable, and explain what you can do to protect yourself.
9. How long we keep it
Pilot sign-ups and messages: for the length of the pilot and up to 24 months afterwards, then deleted — or sooner if you ask. Usage counts: up to 24 months. Your lessons and records stay on your device until you delete them.
10. External links
Research links open other websites, which have their own privacy policies.
11. Children
TeacherBridge is designed for adult teachers (18 years and over), not for direct use by children.
12. Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you may ask us to: see the information we hold about you; correct it; delete it; stop using it, including for news; and withdraw your consent. Contact us on WhatsApp or email (see “Who we are”). We reply within 40 days, free of charge. Usage counts are linked only to a random device number, not to your name; to stop them, switch them off in the app.
If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana: www.dataprotection.org.gh, compliance@dataprotection.org.gh, 0256302031, Pawpaw Street, East Legon, Accra.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and show the date at the top. If a change affects how we use pilot details, we will tell pilot teachers.
